This is a very robust battery box and the designers did good job of providing seals for the vent tube, cables and the lid, but neglected to provide seals for the mounting/battery hold down rods. The rods are right up against the side walls if you use the hold down bracket as a template. I would have been simple to have added bump outs on the sides and provided rubber seals to prevent leakage in the event the battery acid reaches bottom of the box.
